Día de Los Muertos is just around the corner and whether you've been observing this tradition for a long time or you just recently started, everyone has the right to honor and pay their respects to loved ones who are no longer with us. With the growing popularity of Day of the Dead in the United States, this list gets bigger and bigger every year. After all, this is the L.A. Taco Ultimate Guide to Día de Los Muertos events in Los Angeles, so we got your back! As I've done in previous years, I've compiled, to the best of my ability, a round-up of DOD events happening all over the city. From the San Fernando Valley to Santa Ana, there is something for everyone on every corner of the region.

First and foremost, I need to give a huge shout out to L.A. Taco Member Omar Ureta of theworksLA for helping create the map you see above you. With his support, we've listed DOD events taking place in L.A. by location. You can see the map in another window here. All you have to do is click on the sugar skull and the event information will pop up with the date the event will be taking place, an address, and a link to the event page. If you've used google maps, then you will have no problem navigating this map.

The events included in the map run through November 3rd, but a majority of events will be taking place on Friday, November 1st and Saturday, November 2nd. Some of them will require planning in terms of getting there and parking because of the crowds, so get creative in your transportation. And no matter where you celebrate Day of the Dead this year, respect the spaces you are in, the altars, and the communities you are visiting cause Día de Los Muertos is NOT Mexican Halloween.
