‘Sweet Leaf’ by The Delirians Is the New Reggae Anthem for the Pinches Marijuanos of Los Angeles ~ Taco Tune of the Day
When the times get tough,

It’s my baby waiting for my fire.
The opening lyrics for The Delirians new single would make you think their lead singer Angel Salgado was singing about a loyal significant other, someone’s rock, the person that makes him a better man. But when you hear the name of the song it hits: Hell nah, this love song is about blazing it.
“Forever we will find our remedies in nature’s sweet leaves. From a fresh breath of air to the healing of our Temples,” Salgado tells L.A. Taco, who is probably high when we asked that question. The band that started in East Los Angeles in 2007 has come a long, long way from the Latino ska-punk scene they came from and the music video released yesterday for their latest rocksteady reggae romantica culminates this hazy journey.
“This one’s for all the lovers of natural ways,” Salgado adds.
The music video’s Executive Producer and the band’s saxophonist gets deeper about the theme of the video: “The melody and lyrics call us to wake up through the power of herbal meditation and sonic landscapes that is music. It allows us to see be in the world that attempts to homogenize our emotions which is why there are masks and the revelation of the main character comes in the full effect when he is at the concert scene.”
Eric Alvares, the drummer for The Delirians, breaks it down a little simpler: “It’s a lovers rock for marijuanos, so take a hit, throw on those ‘lentes oscuros’ at work, and chill.”
The Delirians will be opening up for Café Tacuba performing tomorrow at Hollywood Forever’s Day of the Dead event at 5:30 PM.
